WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS OUR HELPER AND SUPPORTER
God gives us the Holy Spirit when we believe in Jesus
The Holy Spirit is a helper God sends us when we choose to accept God and follow Him.

How do you become a Christian? By faith. “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) If you have faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives within you. (Ephesians 1:13, Acts 2:38) This is fantastic news! Having the Spirit of God inside us is essential, because He gives us the strength to follow Christ (Colossians 2:6).

When the Holy Spirit works in us, we see change in our lives
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

When you want more than anything to serve Jesus, the Spirit’s work in you results in a love that begins to look like Jesus. You begin to see the “fruits” listed above start to show up in your life. The Holy Spirit helps us in many ways.
* He helps us tell others the gospel (Acts 1:8)
* He helps us pray (Romans 8:26)

* He helps us feel hope, joy and peace (Romans 15:13)
* He helps us deny ourselves (Romans 8:2, 10-11)
Jesus promised a meaningful and fruitful life by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit Other religions tell us to live a certain way, but only Christians have access to the power to live God’s way. The Holy Spirit is God living inside us, which gives us this power. How do we get God’s power for living?

* You must want to be guided by the Spirit (Matthew 5:6)
* Confess your sins (1 John 1:9)
* Give every area of your life to God (Romans 12:1-2)
* By faith, claim the Holy Spirit’s power, according to his Command (“be filled with the Spirit” – Ephesians 5:18) and his Promise (“when we ask according to His will, he hears us . . .” – 1 John 5:14)
Having a meaningful and fruitful life does not always mean we will be healthy, rich or have good things happen. But the Holy Spirit works in our lives to help us be more like Jesus and experience the true joy and power He brings (Ephesians 3:16-19).
